FROM THE DIRECTOR

The mission of our Department is to create balanced opportunities for our patrons to play, learn, and grow through our programs and parks. Whether it’s an organized sport, fitness class, dance class, summer camp program, after school program, public swimming opportunities, picnicking at a pavilion, or walking in a park, Kent County Parks and Recreation has something for you.
Our Department staff work extremely hard on a daily basis in hopes of providing you and your family an opportunity to enjoy fun-filled educational and leisure time activities and events. We provide recreation programs and events for citizens of all ages so any day is a great day to discover the benefits of parks and recreation.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the Kent County Community Center in Worton, please plan to stop by soon. Our staff welcomes the opportunity for person to person contact, as we and our volunteers make connections with patrons to improve lives. It is this person-to-person contact that relieves the loneliness of senior citizens, reduces the stress and isolation of working adults, and inspires and teaches youth to become productive community members.
Through our parks, open spaces and facilities, we preserve the environment and provide opportunities for recreation through programs and facilities to meet the needs of the community. Our programs and services produce specific benefits for our patrons, as well as being an important means of connecting to the community in which we live.
I strongly believe that through quality recreation programs, facilities and people, an economically vibrant and dynamic Kent County community is created and enhanced.
Make your day a recreation day!
Myra S. Butler
