MARYLAND SAFE BOATING COURSES

Ages:	12–Adult (under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old)
Dates:	March 8, 9, 11
Time:	6 p.m.–9 p.m.
Place:	Kent County Community Center
Cost:	$25 per person
Pre-registration required!

This 8 hour course, instructed by certified Maryland Department of Natural Resources instructors, is designed to teach participants basic boating safety. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of written examination. Please inform us of any reading or writing disability at the time of registration to arrange special testing. This is a state required course for anyone born on or after July 1st, 1972 who wishes to operate a boat in Maryland waters.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY Course cancellations must be made during business hours no less than 2 business days before class starts to qualify for a refund. A $5 service fee will be charged and deducted from refund. Refunds may take up to 3 weeks to process.

POOL OPERATOR CERTIFICATION

Ages:	16 and up
Dates:	April 17, 24 or May 1, 8
Time:	9 a.m.–5 p.m. each day
Place:	Kent County Community Center
Cost:	$195 (includes materials)

This 2 day course offers instruction for the
completion of the Maryland Pool Operators
license. Upon completion students will
become certified and eligible for a State Pool and Spa Operator’s license. Topics include: the role of the operator, legal aspects of operating a pool/spa facility, water chemistry, sanitation, and safety and maintenance of plant equipment, spa operations and hot water chemistry. Certification is good for a three year period. Must attend both dates. Class limited to 20 students.

KCPR reserves the right to cancel if minimum number of participants is not met for the April class by April 2, 2010 and the May class by April 16, 2010.

POOL OPERATOR RECERTIFICATION

Ages:	16 and up
Date:	Saturday, May 22 or Wednesday, May 26
Time:	Noon–4 p.m. (May 22)
Time:	5:30 p.m.–9 p.m. (May 26)
Place:	Kent County Community Center
Cost:	$135 (includes materials)

This 1 day, 4 hour course is designed for swimming pool owners, operators, lifeguards, and managers who need their certification renewed. Instruction will focus on updating the procedures for operating a swimming facility as required by both the State of Maryland and county agencies for operators of public swimming facilities. Topics include water testing, filtration, circulation, operation and maintenance of equipment, disinfections, and safety. Proof of current or previous (within six months) certification is required as well as a photo ID on day of class. Class limited to 20 students.
