Kent County Park and Recreation is a member of The Mid-Atlantic Recreation & Parks Sports Alliance. Each year MARPSA recognizes one administrator, one official, one coach, and one athlete from each participating region for “not only good sporting behavior, but also actions made on and off the field that put athletes first, assuring a positive sporting environment”.

The Maryland General Assembly passed legislation (HB858/SB771) requiring concussion awareness and management for organized youth sports programs at public school sites and local parks. This bill requires that concussion awareness information be provided to coaches, school personnel, students, and parents/guardians, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, local boards of education, and other experts and stakeholders.

The Kent County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board accepts requests for proposals for youth sports equipment funding. In order to be eligible for this funding, a representative of the youth sports organization that is submitting the proposal must have attended the annual Sports League Presidents meeting hosted by Kent County Parks and Recreation.
